1. Will you be looking for a new job?
Holy shit. Yes. I graduate with my Masters in Social Work in April. I will then have to get a job wont I? Of everything coming down the pipe, this is the most terrifying.
2. Will you be looking for a new relationship?
I. Um. I don't know how to answer this. I have feelings. But. No. But also yes?
3. New house?
No.
4. What will you do different in 2017?
My goal is to be more directed and focused, particularly with regard to task completion.
5. New Year's Resolution?
To do everything I can to fight fascism. To not fuck around with resume building.
6. What will you not be doing in 2017?
Everything I'm already not doing? I can't think of anything I need to give up. Or should give up. Or care to give up.
7. Any trips planned?
ALASKA BABY! I'm spending my 30th birthday in the frozen north with Nev.
8. Wedding plans?
Not unless something drastic happens but who knows.
9. Major thing on your calendar?
Graduation. Alaska trip. And then the regular Jewish holidays (Passover, High Holidays).
10. What can’t you wait for?
Completing my degree. I am very proud of myself for getting this done. I didnt think I would but damnit I did.
11. What would you like to see happen differently in 2017?
The entire political atmosphere of my country.
12. What about yourself will you be changing?
Actually do physical tasks in my own space that are greater ADL tasks in regards to order and neatness.
13. What happened in '16 that you didn’t think would ever happen?
Trump getting elected and the rise of fascism in the US. David Bowie and Carrie Fischer dying. Brexit. The rise of violent anti-semitism in the US. For the Republicans to take ALL THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT. The DAPL bullshit. Flint fucking Michigan. The list goes on and on.
14. Will you be nicer to the people you care about?
Yep.The fact is, that's already happening. Things have been consistently improving with the people I care about and I'm pretty damn thrilled with the way my life is going interpersonally.
15. Will you dress differently in 2017 than you did in 2016?
I will be wearing business attire more I imagine.
16. Will you start or quit drinking?
No.
17. Will you better your relationship with your family?
I want to. I have no idea what the hell I will do with my dad. Maybe I will. Maybe I won't. However, my aunt is moving to the area and I want to work to build something with her. So yes.
18. Will you do charity work?
My education and career is basically charity work so I don't know how to answer that question. An internship at an NGO is charity. A community project fighting for social justice is charity work. Functionally, the answer is of course yes. However, it's not 100% altruistic, so is the answer still yes when you take that into account? I don't know because I likely won't be doing much if any charity work outside of my job beyond political action against fascism and bigotry and I don't count that.
19. Will you be nice to people you don't know?
Define nice? I have stopped giving a fuck about people I don't know and what they think. I also have begun to make a point to say exactly what I think when I think it with no censor if I'm not speaking to people I care about. I am done changing my behavior for strangers. It's a fucking great happy way to live. So if people don't think what I say or do is nice, then the answer is no. I make a point to be kind whenever I can but I also refuse to compromise. So. IDK you can gauge that how you like.
20. Do you expect 2017 to be a good year for you?
Who fucking knows. I hope so. I think, personally, it will be. Everything I've done has made my life better but with the way the greater world is going I can't make any assumptions.
21. How much did you change from this time last year till now?
I won't be in school, that will be a drastic change. I possibly could have a full-time job and that would be a big difference. I will have met a friend I've known for ten years but never known in person and that's tremendous. Beyond that? Who knows. Anything could happen. The world has proven it's utterly unpredictable.
22. Do you plan on having a child?
No. Oh my god no. But again. Shit happens. Who fucking knows.
23. Will you still be friends with the same people you are friends with now?
Hopefully. But I thought I would be friends with Kaci for the rest of my life and we havent talked in years.
24. Major lifestyle changes?
Aside from graduation and pursuing a job, which are drastic changes, I am considering applying to the Peace Corp and the State Department so I may be leaving the country. The job itself can have any kind of change not just because of changing from a student life to a 9-5 job but because of the demands of a human services job. If I end up in a clinical position, case management could require drastic changes in my self-care routine, my travel patterns, my interactions with people both professionally and personally, and my mental health. BRING IT ON!
25. Will you be moving?
Hell no. While I'm still not a fan of the city, I love living here in this house.
26. What are your New Year's Eve plans?
*cough* Honestly? This answer why this I set the age restriction on the post to 18+. I plan to do adult stuff. Nothing illegal. Just really really adult. If you want to know, we can talk about it but who knows who could be reading this with the servers in Russia now so we'll leave it at that shall we.
